“One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.” – Proverbs 11:24 (NIV)
Have you ever met someone who holds onto everything they have? Whether it’s finances or their physical possessions, they cannot share what they have. I can tell you what the root of that is – it’s the spirit of poverty.
Poverty is a spirit that tells you to hold onto everything you have. It’s that whisper that says you won’t get through the month. It’s the whisper that tells you to count every penny, and not to share what you have, lest you go without.
What people don’t realise is that what they think will cause their finances to stretch longer, actually has the opposite effect! It’s this very deception that brings poverty to your life.
Today’s verse in the CSB translation says it so well, “One person gives freely, yet gains more; another withholds what is right, only to become poor.” The verse directly after says, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
The Bible is so clear on the principles of sowing and reaping, and it’s seen all over your Bible. The promises of God are irrefutable, and His word says, “Give and it shall be given unto you – pressed down, shaken together, and running over!”
Prophetic Declaration
Devil – be quiet! The deception of poverty stops with me! I am a generous believer. I am a giver. I am a financer of His Kingdom! Every time I open my hand to give, I declare and decree that I shall receive even more in return. I am prospering! Amen!
