Not of This World: You Are a New Creation

You are Not of this World. You are a Kainos New Creation

You read the headlines about the economy, the crime, the state of the country, and something in you tightens. Here is the truth the enemy works hardest to keep from you: you are living under the wrong set of laws. The moment you were born again your very nature changed, and a new creation is not of this world, which means you are present in the crisis but no longer subject to it. You are not a slightly improved version of the old you. You are someone who has never existed before.

That one revelation is the difference between surviving your circumstances and reigning over them. Across four movements this post will show you what actually happened in the new birth, why you are a different kind of being altogether, how your identity holds when your feelings argue otherwise, and the ten declarations of who you are in Christ. If you have ever felt like a defeated citizen of this world rather than an ambassador of another, this is the settled ground your faith has been missing, and it deepens what you may already have seen about why you cannot lose your salvation.

1. If Any Man Is in Christ

Everything begins with two words most people rush past.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Notice Paul does not say “if a good man” or “if a consistent man.” He says if any man, and that is deliberate. It does not matter whether you failed yesterday or carry a reputation you are ashamed of; the only qualification is being in Christ. Think of the Passover: the angel did not inspect the house to see who was behaving, he looked for the blood. Your standing rests on what Jesus finished.

And what happened when you came in is not a renovation, it is a re-creation. The Greek word for new here is kainos, which does not mean new in time, like fresh paint on an old wall, but new in kind, entirely different in nature, the way a butterfly is not merely an upgraded caterpillar. Peter says you were born again of incorruptible sperma, seed that cannot decay, so a new creation cannot be uncreated and one born from above cannot be unborn. This is why striving to earn what God has already given misses the point; you cannot work for a nature you already possess, only live from it, the freedom explored in grace versus performance Christianity.

2. A Different Kind of Being

If your nature really changed, you are no longer bound by the rules that bind everyone else.

“I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” — John 17:14

Before you were born again there were two kinds of created being: humans and angels. In Christ you became a third, what Scripture calls a kainos creation, a category that never existed before. That is why Jesus could say His people are in the world but not of it. You hail from another kingdom and carry its immunity, present on this earth but not restricted by its elements. You might get sick, but you are not owned by sickness; you might fail, but you are not a failure; the world may enter recession, but your supply flows from another economy.

Scripture shows this at work in ordinary people. Paul, bitten by a deadly viper on Malta, shook it into the fire unharmed, because the poison struck the body of a new creation. Philip was caught away by the Spirit and appeared in another place. These were early believers carrying the same Spirit you now carry. The point is not to chase the spectacular; it is to grasp that the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in your mortal body, so fear of death, disaster, and lack loses its grip. This settled identity quietly answers why you do not need more faith so much as this, because a spirit sure of who it is does not need to strive.

3. When Your Feelings Argue Back

Here is the honest tension: you may not feel any of this is true. That is exactly why it must be settled by revelation, not emotion.

“We know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” — 1 John 5:19

Paul’s language about you is always in the finished tense. He does not say try to get into the Spirit; he says you are in the Spirit. He does not say work toward being seated with Christ; he says you have been raised up and seated with Him. The word for seated together is sygkathizō, built on sun, a preposition of intimate union, the same word the Greek Old Testament uses of Abraham sitting with God at the cutting of the covenant; it means shared seating and shared authority, not merely occupying the same room. Your mind may not have caught up yet, because it still runs the old operating system and needs renewing, but your spirit has already been changed. So you do not wait to feel it before you believe it; you believe what is written until your feelings agree with the facts.

This is where the fight is won or lost. When condemnation whispers that you have not been good enough for God to move, recognise the lie designed to pull you back under a law Christ already fulfilled. Scripture calls the Spirit in you an arrabōn, a commercial word for the earnest money or down payment that legally guarantees the full amount will follow; in modern Greek it is still the word for an engagement ring. You are not hoping God comes through; He has put a deposit of Himself in you as His pledge. So you do not beg a distant God to come down; you are seated above your circumstances, praying from the top down, living from a settled identity rather than fighting from shame, which is how you overcome sin from sonship rather than striving.

4. The Ten Declarations of Who You Are

So who is this new creation? Paul does not leave you guessing. Speak these ten truths over yourself until your spirit recognises them, because faith comes by hearing.

One, I am the righteousness of God. He who knew no sin became sin for you, so in Him you are as righteous as righteousness itself, not one degree less accepted than Christ.

Two, I am one spirit with Him. Joined to the Lord, you are one spirit; if He prospers, in time you must.

Three, I am an ambassador of Christ. You carry another kingdom’s authority under heavenly immunity, representing another kingdom, not begging this one for favour.

Four, I am seated in heavenly places. Raised up and seated with Him, you pray from victory down to your circumstances, never from defeat up toward a distant God.

Five, I possess the mind of Christ. You carry His mind, so aligned with His word you think His thoughts.

Six, I am a partaker of His divine nature. You are a shareholder of divine substance; your makeup is not merely flesh and blood but flesh, blood, and Spirit.

Seven, I am the temple of the Holy Spirit. God made His permanent home in you; He is not waiting for you to get more of Him, He waits to flow out of you.

Eight, the same power that raised Christ lives in me. Not a lesser power, but the very Spirit that took Him out of the grave now quickens your mortal body.

Nine, I am a king and a priest, complete in Him. It is illegal for you to beg; you decree as a king and have access as a priest, and in Him nothing is missing.

Ten, I have boldness in the day of judgment. Because as He is, so are we in this world, no condemnation hangs over you; His love has been perfected in you.

Conclusion: Live From Another World

The through-line is simple and it is liberating. In Christ you are a brand-new kind of being, born from above, seated in heavenly places, complete, righteous, and indwelt by the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. The crisis around you is real, but it does not set the terms of your life, because you are in this world without being of it. You stop begging for what you already own and start declaring who you already are.

Here is the one thing to do this week. Take the ten declarations above and speak them over yourself out loud each morning, before the news and the noise get a word in. Do not wait until you feel like a new creation to say them; say them until your spirit answers back. You are not talking yourself into a fantasy; you are reminding an already-changed spirit of what your mind has been slow to believe. You are a visitor here, on your way home.

Father, thank You that in Christ I am a new creation, born from above and not of this world. I refuse condemnation and I refuse the lie that I am bound by what binds everyone else. I am the righteousness of God, seated with Christ, complete in Him, and filled with the same Spirit that raised Him from the dead. Open the eyes of my understanding to see who I am, and let my faith flow from that revelation. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
