Legalism loves to maintain control by keeping people focused on their own performance, their own “toiling,” and their own ability to please God. But the New Covenant contains specific “explosive” verses that dismantle the entire system of human merit.

If you want to walk in your ruler anointing and experience the rest of the Finished Work, you must fall in love with these ten scriptures that the legalistic mindset simply cannot explain away.

1. Galatians 5-4 (NKJV)

“You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.”

Why Legalists Hate It: It defines “falling from grace” not as committing a moral sin, but as trying to keep the Law to be justified.

Why You Should Love It: It proves that Grace is your safety net. The only way to “fall” is to go back to working for what has already been given.

3. 2 Corinthians 3-7 (NKJV)

“…the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones…”

Why Legalists Hate It: It refers to the Ten Commandments (the only part of the Law engraved on stones) as a “ministry of death.”

Why You Should Love It: It frees you from the guilt of the “letter” so you can walk in the life of the Spirit.

4. Romans 6-14 (NKJV)

“For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”

Why Legalists Hate It: They believe the Law is the “leash” that controls sin. When you embrace them, you stop being a servant who is afraid of the Master and start being a son who reigns in the house. Don’t let religious tradition rob you of your inheritance. These verses are your legal defense—use them to stay in the rest of God.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it wrong to “hate” what legalists teach?

We don’t hate the people; we hate the “mixture” that robs the Cross of its power. Paul was so protective of this that he said anyone preaching a “different gospel” should be accursed.

Doesn’t the Law keep us from sinning?

No, the Law actually provokes the flesh. The only thing that truly stops sin is the New Nature and the Holy Spirit within you. Grace is the power to live right; the Law is only the demand to do so.

What do I say when people use the Law against me?

Simply quote Romans 10-4. Tell them, “Christ is the end of the law for me.” You don’t have to argue; you just have to stand in your legal identity.

Why is Grace so offensive to some people?

Because it removes human boasting. If salvation is 100% a gift, then we have nothing to take credit for. Grace makes us all equal at the foot of the Cross, and religious pride hates that.

This article is part of a series answering difficult questions about grace and the New Covenant.

In the religious world, there is a subtle but persistent push to keep believers under a “mixture” of Law and Grace.
