“ He who pursues righteousness and loyalty finds life, righteousness and honor.” Proverbs 21: 21 (NASB)
Pursuit, they say, is the proof of desire. It’s simple. We don’t chase after things we have no desire to obtain. The reality is that we have never been taught what is worthy of our pursuit. According to King Solomon, our pursuit of loyalty will reward us – not just with life – but righteousness and honor. Yet we live in a time where the emphasis on loyalty seems increasingly less and, it has lost its appeal.
But what exactly is loyalty? Loyalty is unswerving devotion to a person or a thing. It is important to note that loyalty and faithfulness is not the same thing. Faithfulness is having faith or believing in someone, whereas loyalty is devotion to someone. Loyalty emanates from the heart. It is the manifestation of integrity.
Jesus made a profound statement in Luke 14:33 when He said “In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.” It speaks of a fierce devotion to God that goes beyond what is usual and what is ordinary.
Fierce loyalty is demonstrated when there is no allegiance owed.
Fierce loyalty is demonstrated when there is no benefit promised.
Fierce loyalty is demonstrated when there are no conditions attached.
There are many things in life that we have no control over, but one thing is for sure, we can choose our level of loyalty.
Your gift may make a way for you, but your loyalty is the attribute that will keep you there!!
