DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR CONFIDENCE
HEBREWS 10:35 “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward”
I can’t count how many people have asked me – in all my years of ministry – how they can make sure that they step into the call of God for their lives.
In fact, questions relative to calling, purpose, destiny, etc, are one of the most frequently researched topics – from both Christians and non-Christians.
The way you step into the calling of God for your life is by holding onto your confidence and having confidence. When you walk with your head up high, it’s not arrogance - it’s confidence! David was perceived by others to be arrogant, but I can assure you that God took much joy in David walking onto the battlefield and saying that he can take out Goliath with one shot and insisting that he be paid for it, as opposed to the cowards that feared facing Goliath.
Confidence is when you are fully assured, and you can celebrate and rejoice about the divine quality that is in you. There is no pride in saying “I’m good at this” or “I am the best at this”, you are simply recognising the God-given gift that is inside of you.
Hebrews 10:32 “But recall the former days in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings”.
Paul is saying to remind yourself and start thinking of the former days in which you got saved our had an Encounter with God, after you were illuminated and received revelation.
Revelation is the opening of the eyes, the tearing of the veil. The Apostle Paul tells us your eyes are opened by the spirit of wisdom and revelation that comes on you, and then there is an apocalypses that takes place (which means a tearing of the veil). Encounter is not a church, it’s a revelation - an apocalypses. When you sit under these teachings, it’s just a matter of weeks before you’ll receive transformation, and your eyes will be opened.
Hebrews 10:33 “partly while you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and tribulations, and partly while you became companions of those who were so treated;”
While you were made a spectacle - this word “spectacle” here means to be put on stage naked, embarrassed and ashamed in front of everyone. It means to be put on a platform, laughed at and mocked. Paul is saying that because you have received revelation, this is what you have gone through… think of those days. This is important to take note of, because as soon as you receive revelation of the call of God on your life, your number 1 enemy will be your family trying to come against you, and then number 2, your friends will also come against you.
There are certain keys that are vital in order for you to walk confidently in your calling. I’m going to share with you 7 keys that will help you take your confidence back.
The 1st Key: One of the greatest keys when it comes to walking in confidence is being in the right place. There are so many people stuck in jobs and careers which they aren’t called to, and this causes them to feel unfulfilled and without direction. The right place and the right time will cause you to thrive, flourish and have confidence.
The 2nd Key: You need the ability to recognise the difference or the gift in someone. In Judges 6:13 we see that Gideon couldn’t recognise that the Lord himself was standing in front of him and bringing a word of encouragement to him. When Gideon started to complain, we see that the Lord turned his back on him until he finished complaining. The Lord could not look at Gideon while he was complaining. The Lord then turned to Gideon again after he finished complaining and gave him the promise. Gideon almost missed it because he couldn’t recognise that the Lord was in front of him and the gift that he carries.
The 3rd Key: : To know that the call of God is in you, to recognise the difference in you, and to know exactly where you are called to. One of the most frequently asked questions is “What is the will of God for my life?” If you are in Encounter, you are already in the corporate will of God. It’s just a matter of time before you discover His personal will for your life. Confidence is celebrating the gift that is in you.
The 4th Key: Forgetting your past failures, and remembering your past victories. Gideon had forgotten what God had done in the past for His people. He said: “Where is the Lord? Where are the signs, miracles and wonders?” Gideon was unable to see what God had done.
Gideon only started catching the revelation that it was, in fact, God speaking to him after he heard the Lord telling him who he is - “a mighty man of valour". Gideon recognised that there was something in this Person, because this Person just prophesied over him, and spoke only of his good.
The 5th Key: Giving and Sowing when you recognise that God is present. Gideon said: “If now I have found favour in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who talk with me.” Gideon then says in the next verse “Do not depart from here, I pray, until I come to You and bring out my offering and set it before You.” And God said, “I will wait until you come back.”
There is a powerful principle and revelation that is taking place in this passage. Gideon had asked God for a sign, but he understood that he needed to give God an offering before he would receive that sign. Gideon prepared the offering and presented it. The Angel of God said to him, “Take the meat and the unleavened bread and lay them on this rock, and pour out the broth.” And he did so. The rock represents; Number 1 - Christ, Number 2 - Revelation.
We read on and see that fire came out of the rock and consumed the offering and Gideon received his sign.
The 6th Key: Distinguish good from bad company. Joshua and Caleb’s inheritance - the promised land - was delayed for 40 years because of bad company. They only entered into it at the age of 80. I cannot stress this key enough. The five people you surround yourself with is the image of your future! Let that sink in…
I want to challenge you to put these keys into practice. Place a demand on God for your destiny to be made clear to you. Trust Him to give you clarity as to what your calling and purpose is, and for you to begin to walk in it.
Declare with me, “I am taking back my confidence today!”
