DAY 11 - THE OFFERING IS AN CONDITION OF THE HEART
“Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24 (NKJV)
Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
The concept of giving has for a long time been approached from a wrong standpoint. Many people have been giving, but many have not seen a harvest from their giving. The reason is that they give with the wrong heart attitude.
In the scripture above, the Lord shows us that offering is a heart condition. It goes beyond the physical substance we bring to God. When our hearts are filled with hatred, jealousy, anger, selfish ambition, and pride, our offerings are meaningless.
Only when love has taken over can our gifts be worthy and acceptable before God. Our hearts are the real offering that God is looking for. Having learnt this, begin to examine your heart to ensure it is in the right place. Forgive others and have a heart that does not bear grudges. Let love for God and His Kingdom be the inspiration for your giving.
“Father, may the love that You have shed abroad in my heart overflow and reach the world, and all those around me who are lost. I offer you my heart. Take it and use me for Your glory. In Jesus Name, Amen!”
