DAY 3 - HOLY HUNGER
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6 (NIV)
Throughout my years of ministry, I have met those who hunger after more of God - desperate for Him - and I have met others who are comfortable and complacent with where they are at spiritually.
The word “hunger” from this verse actually means to crave. If we crave after God, seeking His righteousness, scripture is clear that we will be filled.
The words “shall be filled” come from Greek origin which means that you shall be fattened, satisfied and that you shall be supplied in abundance!
The best way to look at this spiritual hunger is to compare it to physical hunger and the way we respond to that hunger. When we get hungry, we automatically begin to look for something to satisfy the hunger. In the same way, spiritual hunger for God can be an empty feeling, a sense of longing, or even a deep feeling of loneliness even whilst surrounded by many people. We will never feel satisfied until we begin to seek Him earnestly and without restraint, with all of our hearts.
“Today I declare that I will be consumed by a holy hunger for the things of God, which cannot be satisfied. May my appetite for the things of the Kingdom, for revelation and for His righteousness be awakened this day, in Jesus Name.”
